The web service we are going to use for this guide is Google Feedburner.

Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, the Google Apps for Education setup for the CBE does not allow access to this service, so either you will have to use your personal Google account to do this. If you do not have a personal Google account, you can either create one and use it, or ask me to create a link using the school Google account.

If you have requested that I create a link for you, please skip to step 14.

  1. Go to the blog page you need a link for.
  2. Copy the link in the web address bar.
  3. Go to
  4. Login using your Google account credentials.
  5. Paste it into the input box for your feed address.
  6. Click Next
  7. Give your feed an appropriate title (ie. Mr. Blenkhorne Programming Blog)
  8. Click Next
  9. Click the link Skip directly to feed management
  10. Click the Publicize tab at the top.
  11. Click Email Subscriptions along the left side.
  12. Click Activate button.
  13. Scroll down to the code in the box below Preview Subscription Link. Select all the code inside the box and copy it.
  14. Go to your blog page in iWeb.
  15. Make sure the Media sidebar is showing, if it isn't click Show Media at the bottom of the window.
  16. Select the tab Widgets at the top and click and drag the HTML Snippet icon onto the place you want the link.
  17. Paste the code you copied in step 13 into the box that appears, then click Apply.
  18. Publish your changes and you now have a subscribe link! Let your students and parents know they can now be notified by email when you've updated your blog. The email notifications usually occur around 5pm in the evening.
