HOW TO CHECK IF YOUR BLUE CORD IS PLUGGED INTO AN ACTIVE PORT

The first thing you need to know is that not all ports are active in the school.

Here is what a port looks like:

Click on the Wi-Fi icon at the top right corner of your screen.

And click on Open Network Preferences…

The Network Window will pop up and along the left you will see something that looks like this:

Continue to try to plug in your blue cord to different ports on your wall until you see the dot beside Ethernet turn green. Then you know that you have found an active port! (It will take about 5 seconds to register). 

If you still cannot find an active port anywhere in your classroom, note which port you would like activated, and email or contact your tech support person to help you get it activated. (There are numbers and letters labeling each port ie. Rm 121 Port 4D).
